Holy shit! I just remembered something: The Watchtower's annual meeting is just 11 days away! It would be interesting to see what tone it will take and what would be said. -

Need Help with Blood Transfusion Illustration
by Dissonant15 inplease, who can provide an intelligent rebuttal to the following illustration?
i always thought it was bullet-proof:.
"if your doctor directs you to 'abstain from alcohol' would you be ok to have it injected into your veins rather than drink it?

Hell, I'm pretty sure that if you injected alcohol into your bloodstream it'd f**king kill you.
No, actually. If you injected pure alcohol (ethanol) into your bloodstream it would have the same effect on you as if you drank it. The only difference is that you would start feeling the effects more quickly than if you drank it. It would only kill you if you injected a large amount - just as you'd also die of alcohol poisoning if you drank too much alcohol in one bout.
But don't go injecting yourself with beer or wine! There are other ingredients in alcoholic beverages which might make you sick or kill you if you injected it directly into your veins.

I think his subdued demeanor is owing to the fact that he's not standing before visible vast audience but sitting before a camera.
Regarding his comments: I think they're feeling the heat. A lot of JWs are waking up, and maybe writing letters with difficult questions about the Royal Commission in Australia and other matters that expose the organization. One of the popular matters people are probably writing in about is the apparent blind and unquestioning obedience that the organization seems to want from the members.

You guys know the meme "pay not attention to the man behind the curtain"? Well we need to create a new meme for these Chilean flags being disguised as curtains in K.H. windows. How about: "Pay no attention to the curtain on the window". That's what the elders at Chilean Kingdom Halls have to say to JWs visiting from abroad. LOL.

JWs using Acts 15:28's "abstain from...blood" to reject blood transfusions is as foolish as if they were using Acts 15:28's "abstain from ... fornication" as grounds for sisters to reject invasive gynecological exams. Think about it. -

The alcohol illustration is a false analogy because the reason a doctor tells you to abstain from alcohol is very different from the reason the bible says to abstain from blood. Also, the body treats alcohol the same way whether it is ingested or injected. But the body treats blood very differently depending on whether you inject it or eat it.
The doctor is concerned about alcohol's effect on the patient's body. On the other hand God is concerned with our impact on blood's sanctity. These are two completely different reasons and so it nullifies the efficacy of the analogy.
In the case of alcohol it would not matter whether you inject it or drink it because in both cases it would have the same negative effect on the body. Alcohol is a basic food substance, meaning that it does not need to be digested and so it is absorbed whole into the blood from the stomach. So whether you inject it or drink it, it enters the blood whole and has the same effects on the body.
In the case of blood, it makes a big difference whether you eat it or transfuse it. Eaten, blood is digested like food and the nutrients from it is what is absorbed. So eaten it is treated as food and thus amounts to equating the soul or life, with food. (Contrast Matthew 6:25b which says the soul is worth more than food) This amounts to an undermining of blood's spiritual efficacy on the altar to atone for the soul of the sinner. A soul (tokenized as blood) has to be sacrificed to buy back the soul of the sinner. By eating blood, you make it into food and this undermines the sacrificial system because now you'd be offering food on the altar to buy back a soul. This is what Leviticus 17:10-12 is getting at.
In a transfusion, however, the blood funtions in the body in the same way that the patient's own native blood functions. Since it is obviously not scripturally wrong to use your own native blood flowing in your veins, then logically it would also not be wrong to use donated blood because the donated blood is being used for the exact same purpose that was instituted by the creator himself! If the use of donated blood in the veins amounts to a violation of the sanctity of blood then logically it would also be wrong to use your own native blood in your veins and everyone would have to cut their throats and bleed themselves to death in order to comply with the command to abstain from blood.
Thus it is foolish to equate eating blood with receiving a blood transfusion; and it is foolish to equate the doctor's order to abstain from alcohol with the bible's decree to abstain from eating blood.

Are you "trained" to be loyal?
by DATA-DOG ini went for the kh today for personal reasons.
it was pretty dumb, but not horrible.
anyway the speaker used a terrible, but accurate illustration in his gb approved outline.

The WT study was horrible - filled with hypocrisy.
It talked about not have the superior attitude of my country is best and highlighted other forms of partiality and discrimination that should be avoided. But somehow their own religious superiority complex and bigotry of considering JWs alone to be true and denigrating everyone else as "worldly" didn't enter the picture. Hypocrites!
The part about not getting involved in worldly controversies was almost intolerable. During that time, this quote weighed on my mind: "all that it takes for evil to triumph, is that good men do nothing". I also wanted to scream at the audience:
"Well its a good thing that christendom's abolitionists of the 19th century didn't live by this philosophy of not getting involved in worldly controversies! Because if they did maybe most of us in here would still be on the slave plantations being whipped and treated like animals, there being nothing against slavery in the bible and all! Wake up you insufferable jackasses!"

Silly Bible things you notice when your awake.
by Crazyguy ini sure you guys can list others but here is a thought about the exodus story.
in chapter 1 the pharoah is concerned that the israelites are becoming to numerous.
and just as a side point we can assume pharaohs were not to dumb and even if they were the smart people of egypt studied in the temple 40 years and they studied all things not just religion.

Or how about millions of people encamped in what must be a huge compound in the wilderness. But every time you have to go use the bathroom you have to go outside the camp. What a long walk that would necessarily have to be for those in the middle of the camp.
"Shit! I think I have the runs. God I hope I can hold it in for the 20 minutes it will take me to get outside the camp!"

How about the accounts in exodus of different plagues that each kill off all the animals each time. Can all the animals of egypt be killed more than once in the space of a few hours or days? You would think that you can only wipe out all the animals of a country only once within a few weeks. What's happening? Are the animals being resurrected each time so they can all be killed again?
